Important points to increase traffic on Blog

1) Blog Regularly :If you’re going to be a successful blogger, one important point to keep in mind is that you should update your blog regularly. By regular, I simply mean that you should define a schedule and STICK to that schedule. Do NOT wander off that schedule, ever.

But, that’s difficult, right? Why?

The major reason why people tend to lose interest midway through their blogging is because they start out wrongly. They decided to blog about something that was not really their point of interest. So, primary rule to success is – Blog about what you love!

Concentrate on the below listed points

  • Make your Readers your Loyal Readers: The idea is pretty simple. When you plan and stick to a schedule, your readers get used to that schedule. Eventually, they don’t have to rely on the blog feeds either. As long as they are well aware of your posting schedule, they’ll generally visit your blog themselves on days when they expect you to update the blog. Finding fresh content gives them a reason to keep coming back!

  • You Lose Traffic When You Deviate: Consider the point above. When loyal readers re-visit your blog, they do so with the expectation of reading something new. If you regularly SKIP your scheduled posting times and neglect the entire blogging area, then these visitors will gradually get disappointed. They won’t be able to keep track of your blog updates and quite a few might simply stop visiting you. This generally leads to a decline in traffic (and a sharp decline, mind that) which is the last thing you want if you’re aiming to be a successful blogger.
  • Regular Updates = Higher Search Engine Positions:Obviously, Search engines want content. They love content. Everytime they visit your blog, they’ll scrape it for new content. If they find it, they index it. And when they index it, you have more pages indexed in a particular search engine. That, in turn, means you have more chances of people visiting your blog when they’re searching for something, as with the addition of each new blog post, you basically widen the scope of topics you cover. And the more pages and quality posts you have indexed, you get more authority in the search engines. Anyone who has a basic idea of success, would not disagree with this post!

  • Regular Updates Get You More Backlinks: Don’t forget that quite a few of your readers are also bloggers(in most of the niches). And when you regularly update your blog, every once in a while they’ll like something you posted and link back to you from their own blogs. What does this offer you? Free backlinks! Who would not want free backlinks? All it takes is some time to stay true to your schedule and you get so many benefits without having to actually work hard for them.
Conclusion
There’s countless advantages of regularly updating your blog. More traffic (which leads to more revenue), more exposure, you establish yourself as a professional in your blogging niche, etc. Of course, it all requires you to stick to your schedule. And if you’re short on time, then plan a schedule that does not require too much time, but can still effectively keep your blog fresh!

Are you able to stick to your schedule? If not, what makes that thing does not happen?

2) Add the blog to blog search engines: There are dozens of blog search engines out there and more being added everyday. Create a good, concise description for your blog, as well as relevant keywords. I have upload a list of free search engine directory.

Unless you actually have people viewing your blog it is very difficult to actually earn anything from it.

So how do you drive traffic to your blog?

The only option is SEO (search engine optimization)

When you are looking online for information on a topic where do you go first?
While I’m sure there will be a variety of answers given to that question – the majority of average web users would answer with one word – ‘Google’.

Every day Search Engines like Google send many millions of web users to websites in their index. While there are plenty of Web 2.0 web indexing services around that are increasing in popularity – the fact is that search engines like Google, Yahoo and MSN are still the biggest source of traffic to websites on the web.

Keyword Rich Content – identify a few keywords for your article that you’re hoping will get indexed highly by Google. Don’t pick too many but consider the questions

  • How do I want people to find this post in Search Engines?

  • What will they type into Google if they want information on the topic you’re writing?
These keywords will need to be the most common words used in your article. Use them in some or all of the following ways:

  • Keywords in post and page titles (read my post on using keywords in titles)
  • Keywords in URL of page (blog herald wrote on this a while back)
  • Keywords in outbound links. Of course you should always link to sources of content as an ethical consideration but the bonus of this is that many SEO experts think that linking to relevant and quality sites on the same topic of your post with good keywords can also add credibility to YOUR post also.
  • Keywords in bold tags (try do it at least once)

  • Keywords in heading tags (there is debate over exactly how to use them but it’s generally accepted that h1 tags are important and that h2, h3, h4 etc tags also have an impact. Having said that I’ve seen some pages rank very well in search engines without using heading tags. There are many tutorials online about heading tags – here’s one.)

  • Keywords in imge alt tags (here’s how)
  • Keywords in the general throughout the text of your post – but especially early on in the first few sentence

3) To add yourself to directories: To start with first register yourself to these directories of Google, Yahoo, MSN. This will give ur blog a lot of popularity. Another way to generating traffic is to submit your links to small directories. I know of webmasters who swear by the benefits of such a strategy – the first thing that they do when starting a new site is to do the rounds of directories – submitting links to key pages with appropriate keywords in the links. There are loads of directories out there – many of which offer a free submission.
Please go through the list...click here. Get urself registered today...you will see an enormous increase in the traffic rate.
  • Increasingly bloggers are starting or joining blog networks to enjoy the benefits of multiple sites and writers working together. One of the advantages of networks of sites is that they usually link to one another. In doing so you have complete control over how your sites are linked to from multiple domains. It is worth noting that you should be careful with this approach – if all your sites are hosted on the one server many think that Search Engines will work out what you’re doing and the impact will be lessened.
4) Commenting on other blogs: Most of the time many bloggers visit different blogs but they come out of the page without commenting on it. The more you invite commenting the more you het comments and also you make a good social network and communities. I have highligthted the word invite commenting which is certainly very important. Ask Questions Include questions in your post definately helps get higher number of comments. Be open ended do not say everything in one topic, be an expert and keep a question open the readers mind so that they can question you on that. Interact with comments left  do reply on the comments that you get, do not leave it unanswered, write back questions to them, ask their opinion make it a lively interaction so that it gives out knowledge for other readers too.

Be gracious – Related to humility is grace. There are times where you as the blogger will get something wrong in your posts. It might be spelling or grammar, it could be the crux of your argument or some other aspect of your blogging. When a someone leaves a comment that shows your failing it’s very easy to respond harshly in a defensive manner. We’ve all seen the flaming that can ensue. While it’s not easy – a graceful approach to comments where you admit where you are wrong and others is right can bring out the lurkers and make them feel a little safer in leaving comments.
